The Biggest Part Of Social You’re Probably Forgetting

You have exciting content, a calendar with great variety, and even a blog, but still not getting the results you want. If you can’t figure out the missing piece, the answer is likely quite simple. It all comes down to engagement.

The biggest part of social media that most people forget is that it’s SOCIAL! It’s an exchange between people—a conversation. If you’re simply posting content and not checking for interaction and responding regularly, then you’re missing out on a valuable opportunity to grow your network. We know that seems like a no-brainer, but many people (especially busy business owners) neglect this part.

We like to remind our clients that being social is actually FUN. It’s so rewarding to see your posts being shared and engagement increasing. Here are some easy ideas you can implement to show followers that you’re here for the conversation.

 ●      Respond to comments – Log in to each of your social accounts at least once a week and respond to comments. Make sure questions get answered and react to people who have taken the time to interact with you. It doesn’t have to be anything lengthy or complicated. Simple phrases can go a long way. Here are some of our favorites:

o   Thank you for the kind words!

          o   Congratulations!

          o   What a great idea!

o   Thanks so much for your feedback. I really appreciate it.

o   So nice of you to say☺

 ●      Give thanks – In addition to thanking people for their comments, you can also thank them for interactions like shares and retweets. Acknowledging their efforts will go a long way, and they’ll be more likely to share in the future.

 ●      Follow your followers – Especially in the beginning, the best way to keep your followers is to follow them back. Make it a standard response that when you get a notification on your phone that someone has followed you, go right onto their account and follow them back.

 ●      Pick up engagement – Spend time each week seeing what your followers are posting and like or comment on their posts. If a follower sees that you’re always liking or commenting, they’re much more likely to make an effort to engage with your posts. This is especially useful when you’re trying to nurture beneficial relationships for your business.

 ●      Sharing is caring – A good majority of your followers are there because you have common interests. So, it’s very likely that they’ll post something worth sharing with your followers once in a while. Pay it forward and share their posts on your feed as often as you can. Then, they’ll be sure to return the favor!
